Ross Hanus likes the idea that the houses he designs are so relaxing and restful the take away the need for a vacation.
With its dramatic sculptured facade and striking interior water-garden courtyard, the 28-room Sonoma was the most popular of the seven luxurious show homes at the Street of Dreams. Visitors voted the Sonoma three of the top awards: Best House in Show, Best Interior Design and Best Architecture.
It was certainly the most architecturally creative mansion on the street. It was impossible to tour it without being challenged by Hanus's imaginative use of space. From every corner of the house, he cleared the way for intriguing vistas and perspectives-along corridors, down curving staircases, across hallways and courtyards.
